Short Story

Rachel and Adam have been friends for a long time, people assumed thet are dating because they are always together. Once high school started emotions developed between the two of them. Rachel begins to grow feelings for Adam and showed it by sending signals like dressing up to get his attention but he never really noticed. Adam did not show it but you could tell right away he had feelings. She heard around school that Adam likes her, but she would rather he opens his heart and tells her how he feels. Later that night Rachel gets a phone call from Adam and asks her to go out with him tomorrow night, right away she says yes. They both feel a sign of relief after the phone call. Saturday night comes around, they are nervous but excited at the same time. Adam goes to pick Rachel up and takes to dinner and a movie. He took her to Applebees and had so much fun, shared a lot of laughs and talked for a long time. Adam payed for both dinner and the movie, they say "The Fighter" and really enjoyed it. Throughout the night Rachel was waiting for him to say something about what she heard in school but Adam did not say a word. By the end of the night Adam did not make a move, Rachel was bummed but tries to get him to talk and tell her how he feels for her since she already knows.

Lea Michele is actresses in a TV show called Glee, it is about a bunch of high school kids who join a glee club but each has their own story to share. In the song “Get it Right” by Lea Michele, she describes the hard emotions she had to overcome from her wrong doing through the use of narrative characterization, internal rhyme, and various others devices. She wrote this ballad for him by apologizing for what she has done.
Both narrative and characterization play a big part in the song because it is told by Lea and the perspective she see’s that caused her mistakes that have been made. This song can relate to many people have ever felt this way at one point, making a mistake with love or in life. She wrote this song about making a mistake in a relationship and hurting someone she has cared about for a long time. Every verse within the song begins with internal rhyming “What have I done, I wish I could run/Can I start again, with my faith shaken” each ending of the first line rhymes.
Part of this song uses an understatement when she says “But how many times will it take, Oh how many times will for me? To get it right” she uses a form of speech that contains expression and can tell she is weakening around this part; you can tell how she feels. Lea’s use of symbolism and imagery really help get a better understanding of the song, towards the end of the song she explains “So I throw up a fist, throw a punch in the air” you can easily picture what she says. Symbolism is the use of symbols to represent things such as ideas and emotions for instance when she says in the chorus “When all that you touch tumbles down/Yeah, I’ll send out a wish.” Lea’s choice of words and use of figurative language can be known just by listening to it.
